earth remote sensing
KAZGEOCOSMOS has up-to-date equipment and software
to receive and process aerospace data, and is a leader
in earth remote sensing in Kazakhstan. We maintain multi-level monitoring
of the land surface using remote
sensing satellites and aerial imagers.
Space technology
KAZGEOCOSMOS is capable of carrying out a quick space survey of Kazakhstan’s
territory with a ground precision
of 500 to 6 metres in visible and radio bands. The UniScan-24 space
data reception station in Atyrau receives
data from the TERRA, AQUA, IRS-1C/1D, IRS-P6 and RADARSAT-1 satellites.
It was certified by the Canadian Space
Agency and is included in the RADARSAT international network. It has
certificates to receive data and products of
0 and 1 levels.
Aerial survey
An aerial survey complex based on an AN-30 aircraft and Beech/Raytheon
King Air C90B using a digital
topographic aerial camera Vexcel UltraCAM-X and a digital hyperspectral
imager ITRES CASI-1500 carries out the
aerial survey of surface and infrastructure facilities. Depending on
the task aircraft can also be equipped with
other aerial survey devices (such as light radar, a thermal imagery
device or ground-mapping radar). An aerial
survey is carried out at an altitude of 300 to 8,000 metres with a
ground precision of 2 to 60 centimetres for Vexcel
UltraCAM-X and 15 to 400 centimetres for CASI-1500. The precision of
geographic fixation on the ground (x,y,z)
is ensured by ground GPS support for the aerial survey. A UltraMap
Server Basic 200 server stores and carries out
the photogrammetric plotting of initial data.
Processing and cataloguing earth remote sensing data
The Data Processing Centre (in Almaty) drafts space surveys, performs
the initial processing and cataloguing
of the information obtained, and archives earth remote sensing data.
Data is recorded and stored in formats
that ensure the storage of the full volume of information flows received
from space in the form of catalogues
of satellite images. The electronic catalogue makes it possible to
quickly find images by specified criteria and
browse parameters saved without retrieving images from the archives.
Searching the catalogue can be made by
the type of space apparatus, survey time interval, geographical region
and so on.
